In this online course I will help you uncover the mystery behind color mixing. When you gain an understanding of basic color theory principles and how color works, this gives you the foundation to mix any color. I will take you through easy to do exercises that will help you learn the essentials of color mixing. Using the three primary colors, red, blue and yellow, you will learn how to mix secondary and tertiary colors on the color wheel. In this course I will guide you on how to mix tints and shades as well as how to dull (desaturate) a color (hue) by combining complementary colors. Discover how to create dynamic color combinations that creates impact to your artwork. You will learn basic terminology such as hue, complementary, saturation, tint, shades and analogous schemes. I even go over how to recognize when you’ve reached “mud.” I walk you through step-by-step on how to create your own color wheel so you will have something to refer to for future projects.

I'm a professional mixed media artist and have been teaching a variety of mixed media workshops for the last several years. I have an extensive background in art & design. I'm a licensed therapist and creativity coach. So, I understand the ins & outs of the creative process. Especially what it means on a personal level to be able to express yourself creatively.

Mixed media is the perfect medium that allows you the freedom to get messy and explore what organically unfolds. You’ll be surprised at what you can create when you're given the permission to not have it be perfect and to PLAY!
In my courses, I share my experience and knowledge working in mixed media and the different techniques that can make your pieces rich with layers and dimension. I give you the basics for the different techniques and then encourage you to follow your own creative intuition.
